3D Interference Indicator – High Standard Fiber Optic Connector

Fiber optic connectors are important connecting devices; optical parameters are their basic parameters. Optical connections can only be made when the optical parameters meet the requirements. How to improve the stability, reliability and quality of high-speed networks? The method is to control the 3D interference index of the fiber optic connector. In other words, the method is a polishing technique that controls the geometry of the fiber optic connector to achieve high precision in the connection between the end faces of the connectors.
There are three important technical parameters for testing the end face geometry of a fiber optic connector: radius of curvature, vertex offset, and core height to form a 3D interference index.

1.Radius of curvature
The radius of curvature is defined as “the point near the point on the curve coincides with the maximum radius of the arc.” The radius of curvature of the opposite end faces refers to the radius of the ferrule shaft, that is, the radius of curvature of the end face of the ferrule. The radius of curvature of the compression force is controlled to maintain the center of the fiber matched to the force. The radius of curvature increases or decreases the pressure failure of the fiber, and the matching aging effect ultimately results in a fiber center spacing.
2. Vertex offset
The ferrule end vertex offset is the distance from the highest point of the curve to the core of the fiber. If large insertion loss and return loss occur, the offset will increase, affecting the connection result.
3. Core height
The height is the height from the end face of the fiber-optic core fiber ferrule to the distance. Fiber Height This indicator is used to measure fiber and fiber contacts. When the material expands or shortens, the fiber recess creates an air gap between the fiber contacts, changing insertion and return loss. The fiber height between the fibers increases the pressure and damages the fibers; the pressure is transmitted to the fixed fiber or material, thereby fixing the fiber damage and affecting performance and stability.
